Our Story

Our Studio Story, Lacey and Danielle McNamara…

We first met through music while both performing in the musical, "Annie Get Your Gun", at the SLO Repertory Theatre (and later married on that same stage in 2013!!!). We were both just finishing up college and we realized that it seemed a natural choice to combine our talents and passion for teaching into a music studio. Thus, Lyrics and Melodies was born.

Lyrics and Melodies Studio came from humble beginnings. In 2010, we began our studio in the living room of our tiny college apartment, squeezing our students into the corner of the living room while parents waited at our kitchen table. We moved into a larger apartment with a dedicated music room in 2011 and then into our first small, commercial space in 2015. 2017 found us in our beautiful studio home in Los Osos. When we began this adventure, we never imagined how our musical family would grow or the immense joy we would have in creating this community!

In 2014, we began Mini Melodies, offering parent participation-based music classes using the international Music Together® curriculum. Working with students from birth is an amazing experience. It has allowed us to help make the world a more musical place and encourage families to become music makers rather than simply music consumers. 

As our venue and programs grow, so do our dreams. We hope that Lyrics and Melodies Studio will be a place where you can come to effectively learn your instrument and be a place with a sense of community, a second home, and a musical family.  When we were literally inviting people into our home for lessons, the sense of family came with the nature of the location. Now that we have a dedicated studio space, we want to continue that feeling by offering opportunities to create that bond outside of your lesson time. We now have group classes, camps, workshops, and events where our students and families can continue their musical education and continue to grow the musical connection we foster!
